Traditional Inhabitant boat driver wanted for CSIRO Tropical Rock Lobster Survey

CSIRO have been conducting annual dive surveys to collect data on Kaiar and their surrounding habitat since 1989, these surveys have been jointly funded by AFMA and CSIRO.

During the surveys CSIRO divers count the numbers of Kaiar and their sizes. Midyear (May-June) surveys were conducted from 1989-2004 (and again in 2018) but these surveys were changed to pre-season surveys and moved to November to be as close to the start of the fishing season as possible. Counts of Kaiar are used to estimate population size and also to estimate how many can be caught sustainably in the coming fishing season.
