Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishing season closing soon

The Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishery closes on Tuesday, 30 September 2025.

The Protected Zone Joint Authority reminds commercial fishers that no commercial fishing is permitted after this date.

All catch must be landed to a licenced fish receiver and the catch must be reported to the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) within 3 days of landing.

The Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishery will remain closed from Wednesday 1 October to Sunday 30 November 2025, in accordance with the management arrangements for the fishery.
