Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishing season is now closed
The 2024–25 Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishing season is now closed.
All catch must be landed to a licenced fish receiver and the catch must be reported to the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) within 3 days of landing.
The Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishery will remain closed from Wednesday 1 October to Sunday 30 November 2025, in accordance with the management arrangements for the fishery. No commercial fishing is permitted during the closure period.
