The Protected Zone Joint Authority (PZJA) has agreed to release the draft Guidelines for authorising cross-endorsement in areas of Australian jurisdiction of the Torres Strait Protected Zone (the draft Guidelines) for public comment.

On 4 October 2022, the PZJA agreed to grant a permit for scientific purposes to CSIRO to undertake an annual Tropical Rock Lobster fishery independent population survey (commonly referred to as ‘the pre-season survey’) which is scheduled to take place from 8–22 November 2022 across the region.
