Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Management Plan Amendments 2025

Several amendments to the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Management Plan 2009 (TSPF Plan) have been drafted to bring it up to date with the current fishery management environment and remove old clauses that are no longer required.

Topical rock lobster (kaiar) season opens on 1 December 2025

The season for 2025–26 opens on Monday, 1 December, for free diving and lamp fishing only. 

It closes on 30 September 2026, or when available quota units have been caught.

The PZJA has endorsed a new 5-year strategic research plan for the Torres Strait Scientific Advisory Committee (TSSAC).
