The development of the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Harvest Strategy 2010 was guided by the Commonwealth Fisheries Harvest Strategy Policy (2007).
The objective of the Harvest Strategy Policy is the sustainable and profitable utilisation of Australia’s Commonwealth fisheries in perpetuity through the implementation of harvest strategies that maintain key commercial stocks at ecologically sustainable levels and within this context, maximise the economic returns to the Australian community.
